Review: Fable Anniversary

As far as major presenters go, no one has been as open about what it's bringing to E3 as Ubisoft. Ubisoft has confirmed seven games it will be showcasing at the event this year, with major reveals planned for games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Tom Clancy's The Division 2 . Rumors point to a new Splinter Cell game being announced during Ubisoft's presentation as well, with the stealth action franchise having been dormant for about five ye

Prior to E3, Sony confirmed that its presentation will primarily focus on four games: Death Stranding , Hideo Kojima's first post-Konami project; Ghost of Tsushima from the developers of Sly Cooper and Infamous ; the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man project in development at Insomniac Games; and of course, the long-awaited The Last of Us: Part

Another cool feature is that of photograph locations throughout the map that when touched display a viewpoint from the original Xbox game. This is quite nifty as it allows you to match up with your television and see exactly what has been improved for the Anniversary edition. It’s also said that backgrounds for key players have been written and are viewable upon meeting them, but I was unable to find how to access these. A title update will be supposedly be released on launch day, so perhaps they will become easier to find then. The only real negative of the experience is that it doesn’t show the NPCs that can be interacted with on the map. Unfortunately, this makes it so you can’t rely solely on your tablet/smartphone, which is a bit of a bummer.

Peter Jackson's take on The Hobbit didn't quite live up to the standards set by the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but an adaptation of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor could be a great addition to the movie canon. The game takes place after the events of The Hobbit but before The Lord of the Rings , and focuses on a Ranger called Talion, who is killed by Sauron's forces but is saved when a wraith merges with his body, turning Talion into an undead warrior with some very unique abilities. Enraged by the slaughter of his family, Talion proceeds to single-handedly wreak havoc on Sauron's army of Orcs, playing an unsung role in preventing the fall of Middle-ea


Needless to say, spell casting becomes increasingly complex as more attack options are enabled. Fireballs must be primed by either shaking your right hand before attacking, or speaking the word "Fireball" out loud. Attacking with Shards, meanwhile, requires that the player holds his or her right hand over and behind their right shoulder, as if throwing a spear, or by saying "Magical Shard." Generally, motions are recognized more quickly than speech. Each of these actions, on their own, are simple to perform reliably. The trouble is that in the heat of combat, players will need to perform multiple actions, often simultaneously, and Kinect gets confused by the commot


Besides the games Nintendo has already announced for E3, fans should be able to expect some surprise game announcements, in addition to new looks at previously revealed Switch titles like Yoshi and maybe even Metroid Prime

Technically, Nintendo has only confirmed two games it will be showing at E3 this year, those being the already-released Splatoon 2 and the in-development Super Smash Bros. However, it would be surprising if Nintendo didn't use E3 as a time to shine a spotlight on Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee as well, though it's important to note that those games aren't confirmed for E3 at the time of this writ


If the recent cancellation of multiplayer-only Fable: Legends is any indication, Microsoft is willing to go for a big single-player-focused campaign for Fable 4 . While there's a possibility of having some kind of co-op or drop-in component similar to Destiny , for this to be a true return to the franchise, there would have to be a fully featured single-player story anchoring the whole proj


For that matter, The Journey's voice acting and score are both top notch, as is the on-screen performance of Gabriel during cutscenes, his subtly exaggerated features easily communicating a wide range of emotions and clearly reflecting his state of mind. He's a likable, distinct hero who frankly deserves a better game. Perhaps he'll get it when Xbox 720 and Kinect 2.0 - with its rumored ability to read lips and recognize emotions - roll around, but for now, there's just no need to take The Journ
