Aussies Rocked By Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake

A 3.5 magnitude earthquake has struck a regional town car service new york in New South Wales. 

The quake was recorded at a depth of 2km near Appin, about 70km southwest of Sydney's CBD in the Macarthur region, just before 3pm on Wednesday. 

Locals reported feeling at least one aftershock near Menangle, 20km northwest of Appin, in the minutes after seismologists recorded the initial tremors. 

As of 4pm, 485 people had reported feeling the quake, Geoscience Australia said. 

'Felt it and heard it - Mount Annan. Split second and internet and computer shut off and off,' one woman wrote online. 

'Just felt this! Parked waiting for school pick up and originally thought someone had hit my town car service new york due to how much it shook,' a second said. 

This was the second significant earthquake to hit the region within a week after a magnitude 5.2 quake was reported near Nyngan on May 24.

The earthquake was one of the strongest in the state's history with residents reporting up to nine aftershocks and others feeling tremors from 100km away.
